You’re Invited: Participate in Quality of Life Planning for Shelby County & Shelbyville – April 30th 2:00 pm @ the Strand Theatre

April 30th at 2:00 pm at the Strand Theatre – 215 S Harrison St, Shelbyville, IN 46176
Please join the Shelby County and Shelbyville Community, Government, Non-profit, Health, Civic and Religious Leaders, as we move our Quality of Life Planning Process forward.  Many of you participated in the conversation at City Hall on April 8th, which introduced the process, ways that it will build on the work that has already been done to get us further as a community, and how you can (must!) participate.
On April 30th at 2:00 at the Strand, please attend as we officially “kick off” the planning and talk about the next steps.
Drew Klacik, Senior Policy Analyst with the Indiana University Public Policy Institute will talk about population and demographic trends that will be a call to action to us all on a more proactive approach to Quality of Life Planning and Community Development.  His work is focused on Indiana and trying to understand the interaction of economic and community development policy, taxation, and trends, and the effect on the quality of life and economic vitality of metropolitan areas.
David Terrell, the Director of Economic Development Policy at the Building Better Communities Program at Ball State will then share a message that Community Development is Economic Development and how we move forward in this important work.  David is formally the Executive Director with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs and an architect of the Stellar Communities program, Hometown Competitiveness Program and more.  The Building Better Communities program will play a vital role in this plan, lending their expertise, facilitation, and knowledge of the issues and resources.
If you have any questions, please contact us at the Blue River Community Foundation.  Hope to see you there!
